Recently finished reading ~ see also Reading List
Movies (in theaters)
- Seen:
- Star Trek Into
Darkness ...loved it, as I knew I would
- Iron Man 3 ...loved
it; great start to Marvel's 'phase 2'
- The Dark Knight Rises
... as expected, I loved it...great ending to the trilogy
- Snow White and the Hunstman ... overall,
an entertaining movie, tho slow in places; could've done with
a bit more depth and a more fulfilling ending...
- The Avengers ...
very enjoyable
- The Hunger Games
... hmm, okay, bit slow, book was better (of course)
- Transformers
3: Dark of the Moon ...eh, first two were
better...it helped that I liked Megan Fox's character than
Ms.PoutyLipsScreamyBigEyedWaif...
- X-Men: First Class
... very enjoyable... and of course, I now am listening to the
very excellent soundtrack repeatedly...
- The Chronicles of
Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader ... pretty
good
- Tron
Legacy ... watched when it came out...loved out
- Avatar --
hmm...good movie, really not worth the post-3D migraine,
however...and not worth buying to rewatch
- Ice Age 3: Dawn of
the Dinosaurs -- first still the best
- Terminator
Salvation -- very entertaining
- G.I. Joe: The
Rise of Cobra -- eh, not that great
- Transformers
2: Revenge of the Fallen -- hmm...okay, now
I understand the bad reviews...not really a great deal of
actual story and very little emotional impact, unlike the
first one; this was mostly just robots beating up on each
other and too many bad-taste/juvenile-humor moments with a
very few scenes that were actually good...the curse of
sequels...~sigh~
- Star Trek
-- loved it, alternate reality and all
- X-Men Origins:
Wolverine -- pretty good if a bit uneven, which,
actually, I kinda expected...
- Hellboy 2: The
Golden Army -- pretty good
- Journey to the
Center of the Earth -- good for a kid flick
- The Mummy
3: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor -- eh..okay,
not great, the first two were *much* better, and I miss
the original *real* Evie
- The Dark
Knight -- Loved it.
- Indiana Jones and the
Kingdom of the Crystal Skull -- while
I enjoyed the action and seeing Indy again, the
resolution of the skull was...goofy

Music
- I must confess...I'm a soundtrack junkie. If there's a
series or movie out there that I love and has good music, then I
probably own the soundtrack. And by soundtrack, I mean the
incidental music, not the "soundtrack of pop vocal music
inspired by the movie and/or series." I want the good
stuff...the composed orchestral wonderful soaring music.
- On occasion, I have purchased vocal soundtracks:
- New Age
Watching:
- Anything on the History Channel or Discovery that happens to
be Egyptology-related, which just fascinates me.
- I'm a scifi/fantasy fan, so if it's scifi and/or
fantasy, it'll most likely get my attention. Add great writing,
likeable complex characters, and angst to that, and well, I'm
hooked.
- Current series: Defiance, Doctor Who, Once
Upon a Time
- Past series: Angel, Babylon 5,
Buffy, The Dresden Files, Farscape,
Firefly/Serenity, Flash Forward, Heroes,
Jericho, Merlin, Star
Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star
Trek: Enterprise, Stargate: SG-1,
Stargate: Atlantis, V
- A few non-scifi series have caught my interest as
well: Castle and NCIS are the
current favorites.
- I also have an affinity for various cartoons, most of
which (though not all) are aimed more toward an adult/late
teen audience, such as
- Avatar, the Last Airbender, Code Lyoko, Danny Phantom,
Justice League/Justice League Unlimited, Teen
Titans, and The Batman
- Of course, watching series set in the DCAU has added another
"shipper" couple to my list: Batman/Wonder Woman.
- And Avatar added Zuko/Katara, one of the few "no
real on-screen evidence to support (and I don't
care)" couples that I adore.
- And my old favorites from the 80s/90s: Zorro,
Beauty & the Beast, Scarecrow & Mrs. King,
and The Sentinel. Good stuff.
