List
Movies (in theaters)
- Seen:
- Atonement -- um...okay....let's
just say I needed a happy movie after this...
- National Treasure: Book
of Secrets -- entertaining though the bad guy plot got a bit weak
- The Golden Compass
-- hmmm...fairly good with cool FX; but not enough to buy the dvd
- Transformers
-- Definitely entertaining, even without knowing much about the actual
cartoon....
- Pirates
of the Caribbean 3: At World's End -- *Still* liked the first
one better, especially as this one had some decidely ... kooky spots
- Shrek the Third -- fairly okay, better than the second one I thought
- Spider-Man
3 -- Pretty good, though the first two were probably better
- The Nativity Story -- Very excellent film; *highly* recommended
- The Prestige -- purchased this on dvd; good movie, although
I'd figured out all the "big reveals" by halfway through
- Eragon -- Fairly decent
though a tad slow here and there; I imagine the book must have more character
depth in places
- Pirates of
the Caribbean 2: Dead Man's Chest -- Liked the first one better;
too many "ew!" scenes in this
- Superman Returns
-- Wow. Just....wow. I could care less what the supposed "movie
critics" have to say, this movie was beyond wonderful.
- The Lake House
-- bit of an abrupt end, but I really enjoyed it
- X-Men: The Last Stand
-- good movie, but I was disappointed with several creative choices;
will not be purchasing it
- Hoodwinked
- Tristan and Isolde
-- pretty good, though I went in knowing how it would end since I know
the myth/tale quite well
- The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
-- Excellent
- The
Legend of Zorro -- Loved it, of course. Great sequel.
- Serenity -- Excellent
movie, though I enjoyed the tv series more.
- Batman Begins --
Yowza! Loved, loved, loved this; can't wait for the sequel.
- Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith
- National Treasure
- Waiting to (possibly) see:
- The Forbidden Kingdom (April 18, 2008) ... maybe, though might
wait for dvd
- The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince
Caspian (May 16, 2008)
- Indiana Jones and the Kingdom
of the Crystal Skull (May 22, 2008) ... about time!!!
- Valkyrie (June
27, 2008) ... not a big fan of Tom Cruise, but the movie looks good enough
for dvd purchasing/renting
- Hellboy 2: The Golden Army
(July 11, 2008)
- The Dark Knight
(July 18, 2008) ... of course!
- The Mummy 3: Tomb of
the Dragon Emperor (August 1, 2008)
- X-Men Origins: Wolverine (May 1, 2009) ... probably
- Star Trek XI (May 8, 2009) ...
sounds more intriguing with each bit of new casting news
- Transformers 2 (June
26, 2009)
- Superman: Man of Steel (summer 2009) ... of course!
- Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins (summer 2009) ... hmm...maybe
- JLA movie
Music
- I must confess...I'm a soundtrack junkie. If there's a series
or movie out there that I love and has good music, then I probably own
the soundtrack. And by soundtrack, I mean the incidental music, not the
"soundtrack of pop vocal music inspired by the movie and/or series."
I want the good stuff...the composed orchestral wonderful soaring music.
- On occasion, I have purchased vocal soundtracks:
- New Age
Watching:
- Anything on the History Channel or Discovery that happens to be Egyptology-related,
which just fascinates me.
- I'm a scifi/fantasy fan, so if it's scifi and/or fantasy, it'll
most likely get my attention. Add great writing, likeable complex characters,
and angst to that, and well, I'm hooked.
- Current series: Doctor Who, Stargate: Atlantis,
and Heroes
- Past series: Angel, Babylon 5, Buffy,
The Dresden Files, Farscape, Firefly, Jericho,
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Enterprise,
and Stargate: SG-1
- A few non-scifi series have caught my interest as of late, as
well: CSI and CSI: Miami
- I also have an affinity for various cartoons, most of which
(though not all) are aimed more toward an adult/late teen audience,
such as
- Avatar, the Last Airbender, Code Lyoko, Danny Phantom, Justice
League/Justice League Unlimited, Teen Titans, and
The Batman
- Of course, watching series set in the DCAU has added another "shipper"
couple to my list: Batman/Wonder Woman.
- And my old favorites from the 80s/90s: Zorro, Beauty &
the Beast, Scarecrow & Mrs. King, and The Sentinel.
Good stuff.
