When disaster strikes and lives are on the line, Rescue 77 rolls into action. In that split second moment between danger and safety, it's always a sure bet that the dedicated and talented paramedic team from Fire Station 77 are first on the scene and the only hope of the seriously injured.
Rescue 77 is an action-packed drama chronicling the daily lives of medics and firefighters working out of Station 77 of the Los Angeles Fire Authority. Starring Marjorie Monaghan (Regarding Henry), Christian Kane (Fame L.A.), Victor Browne (One Life to Live) and Richard Roundtree (Shaft), Rescue 77 is a midseason series by Spelling Television for The WB.
Not everyone has what it takes to be a paramedic. Ironically viewed as a dead-end position within the Fire Department, it takes a special brand of demeanor -- part crazy, part gutsy and all heroism -- to fill the shoes of a Firefighter/Paramedic. Kathleen Ryan (Monaghan) is the paramedic who cares too much -- as a paramedic you're supposed to stay objective. She tries, but despite her attempt at being stoic, she is inevitably drawn into the lives of the victims she rescues -- which often puts her in emotional and professional turmoil.
There's the overzealous and at times unconventional Wick Lobo (Kane). He will do anything to save a life, even if it means risking his own. He's wild, unpredictable and the paramedic who won't take "no" for an answer. Rounding out the talented trio of Rescue 77's paramedics is the wealthy-but-I-really-try-to-hide-it Michael Bell (Browne). He's the one who wears his emotions on his sleeve and sees the people in his district as family, and he'll do anything to protect them.
Keeping the entire station running smooth is the tough-as-nails on the outside, but compassionate on the inside Captain Durfee (Roundtree), who is also the voice of reason to his young and oftentimes impetuous group of medics and firefighters. When the natural competitive spirit between the medics and firefighters begins to emerge, it's Durfee's job to keep them motivated and working as a team.
Rescue 77 has a supporting cast of zany, wild and heroic firefighters. Mixing the dangerous and sometimes outrageously crazy rescues with the pranks the firefighters pull on each other, Rescue 77 takes the viewer on the wild roller coaster ride that being a firefighter/paramedic is all about. Whether it's a life-threatening situation or a simple cat-in-the-tree dilemma, paramedics Ryan, Lobo and Bell are on the case, giving each individual rescue everything they've got.
Aaron Spelling, E. Duke Vincent, series creator Gregory Widen (Backdraft) and Kevin Arkadie (New York Undercover) are the series executive producers. On the line are Robert "Buzz" Berger as Producer, and Eric Laneuville (413 Hope Street) as Executive Consultant. On the writing staff as Consulting Producer is Josef Anderson (I'll Fly Away and China Beach) and serving as Co-Producer is Jeff Vlaming (The X-Files).
